LCG-2 and gLite

What are LCG-2 and gLite?

Both are Grid middleware toolkits containing services such as workload management, data management, information system and other functions. LCG-2, released by the LCG project, at present integrates over 30 thousand CPUs and its storage volume exceeds 5PBs (5000 TB) worldwide. gLite, developed in the EGEE Project and planned to be the successor of LCG-2, provides more reliable and secure operations on large-scale grids.
