What it means: “Pervasive” means Business Intelligence systems that make their benefits available to everyone in a company, including front-line employees—and even customers or suppliers. This is different from traditional BI, used only by business analysts for the benefit of management. Technology supporting pervasive BI needs to process data in real-time rather than on a separated data warehouse 24 hours later. This puts enormous performance demands on existing production systems.
